Why Tuscany?

Tuscany is not simply a place. It is a way of making things. The elegance of its hills and vineyards, the flowering gardens of its villas, the architecture of Florence — all of it is the product of a culture that has placed beauty and craft at the centre of daily life for centuries. Tuscany is the birthplace of the Renaissance. That heritage does not disappear. It lives in the workshops, the mills, and the hands of the people who still work there.

When we set out to find a manufacturing partner for The Foxes Den, we were not looking for the fastest or the cheapest. We were looking for the best. That search led us, as it inevitably does, to a small region just outside of Florence.

A House Born in the 1930s

Our linen is produced by a Florentine atelier with roots stretching back to the 1930s — founded among the rolling Tuscan hills at a time when handcraft was not a selling point but simply the only way things were made. The house began with traditional Florentine hand-made embroideries, the kind of intricate, painstaking work that requires years of training and cannot be meaningfully accelerated.

Since its founding, this atelier has been owned and actively managed by just two Tuscan families. Not a corporation. Not a holding group. Two families, across nearly a century, who have chosen to remain rooted in the same hills, the same traditions, and the same standard of work that defined the house from the beginning.

That continuity is rare. In an industry that has largely moved production offshore in pursuit of margin, this atelier has held its ground — and its craft.

Our relationship with this atelier is a close one. We work directly with their team on fabric selection, finishing specifications, and quality standards. That relationship — and the access it gives us to their finest work — is part of what makes The Foxes Den possible.

They are a well-regarded house with an established international presence, including distribution across Europe, the United States, and the Asia-Pacific. The fabric is woven with precision, finished using traditional Italian techniques — mercerisation, calendering, hand-finishing — and inspected at every stage by people who have spent their working lives learning to see the difference between good and exceptional.
