Linen information & FAQ

Where is The Foxes Den linen made?

All our linen (Flax) is grown in Europe. The manufacturing process from yarn spinning and dying to weaving and sewing all take place in France or Portugal.

Can The Foxes Den linens be tumble dried?

Yes. We don’t recommend tumble drying as it can damage the fibres. but it can be done. Make sure you use a low to medium heat setting to maintain the linens shape and soft texture.

Will The Foxes Den linens shrink?

No They shouldn’t. All The Foxes Den linen has been pre shrunk prior to sewing. If cared for properly  and washing instructions are followed, our linens will not shrink.

Can I iron my linen?

Yes, you can iron your linen. Our linen has been designed to look relaxed and carefree. If you like a more formal appearance by all means iron away. You may want to iron while its still slightly damp or use a Linen Spray.

Will The Foxes Den Linen drop any lint?

Yes – some Linen will lint. We have done hours of research into Linen and its Lint. Our Manufactures have told us its perfectly normal and every batch and colour of linen will shed different amounts and for different periods of time. The Linting of your Linen will not effect the quality or longevity of the Linen. It will be eliminated through the washing and drying process recommended. Any shedding will eventuality disappear after washing and using for some time.

What should I use to wash my linen?

We recommend using a mild liquid chemical free, Plant based detergent.

Linen after all is a natural Product – why coat it in Nasty chemicals now?

.

Does the elastic in the fitted sheet actually last?

In regards to the elastic, well I've never had a complaint about the elastic wearing out but bear-in-mind a fitted bottom sheet never lasts as long as a flat sheet, a bottom sheet gets a hard time and this is why in France when you buy a sheet set you often get 2x flat sheets and no bottom (fitted sheet) they use the flat sheet with old fashioned hospital corners.
This is because you can alternate the top and bottom sheet each time you wash, you will get a lot longer wear.

 .

Do the linen sheets have a thread count?

Flax Linen doesn't have a thread count its done by weight. all our linens are between 160 - 170 gr/m²
Each flax fiber is made to a different weight, the higher the count, the stronger and more coarse your linen will be.

But a interesting little fact about cotton and thread counts... is the amount of threads per square inch. The highest you can get in 400 threads per sq inch, as the market has this perception of higher thread count = better product the fabric manufacturers just double up and do two or more layers of thread so they can achieve a higher thread count.
Buy having two layers the treads rub together and your cotton sheets wear through a lot quicker - for the most effective and long lasting cotton you are best to stick with a 380-400 thread count.
