There is a particular quality to chalk and oatmeal together — the way they hold light without reflecting it, the way they read as warm in winter and cool in summer, the way they disappear into a room and make everything around them feel more considered. The Addi throw in this colourway is not a statement. It is a resolution.

Hand-loomed by artisans in India on traditional looms, the check is woven from hand-spun wool and tussar silk — two fibres that behave differently and, together, produce something neither could achieve alone. The wool gives the throw its body and warmth; the tussar silk, harvested from wild forest cocoons rather than cultivated racks, gives the surface its characteristic uneven lustre. In chalk and oatmeal, that lustre is subtle — a quiet shimmer that shifts with the light rather than catching it.

At 140 × 180cm, the Addi is generous enough to use and beautiful enough to leave folded. Draped across a linen sofa, layered at the foot of a bed dressed in soft neutrals, or wrapped around the shoulders on a winter evening — it settles into every context without effort. And like all things made entirely by hand, it only becomes more itself with time.

• If hand washing, use cold water with a gentle wool wash — do not wring or tumble dry
• Lay flat to dry in shade; avoid prolonged direct sunlight to protect the natural chalk tones
• Store folded in a breathable cotton bag away from moisture
