August Wool & Silk Cushion

The August cushion is made from a combination that has no industrial equivalent: 60% wool and 40% silk, handwoven by artisans using techniques that have not changed in centuries. The wool provides warmth and structure; the silk gives the fabric its natural lustre and the subtle unevenness of texture that is the signature of something made entirely by hand. No two cushions are identical. The chequered pattern in warm, neutral tones — the particular browns and naturals of undyed and lightly dyed fibre — reads differently in different light, and the patina deepens as the fabric relaxes and softens with use.

The plain cotton reverse gives the cushion a clean, practical back that sits quietly against the sofa or bed. The feather insert is included: plush, full, and present from the first evening. At 50 × 50cm, the August is the classic square format — the all-rounder that works in any placement and at any scale.
