The Umber Marble design begins as an original oil painting,  countless layers of paint in slightly different shades of umber, each one building depth and movement until the whole becomes something quietly extraordinary. That painting is then carefully translated and printed onto natural linen and sewn in small batches in New Zealand. Nothing is mass-produced. Nothing is repeated at scale.

Every cushion in this collection starts with a hand-painted landscape or abstract piece by an Auckland artist. The result is a cushion that carries the quality of original art without requiring a wall to hang it on.

• Avoid direct sunlight — as with all natural linen, deeper colours may soften gradually over time
